A prolonged Spectrum cable outage, cutting off internet, phone and TV services for about 20 blocks of the southern Upper West Side, caused frustration among residents on Tuesday morning. Some have taken to social media to tell the company.

“Ridiculous as hell brother,” Arman tweeted. “I’m hard at work and it’s crashing. Ride for 2 minutes, crash again and again. I’m sick of this business.

Wait a second! said a spokesperson for Spectrum.

“Our technicians located a fiber optic cable cut overnight that initially appeared to have been damaged by an outside company or contractor,” said John Bonomo, senior communications manager for Spectrum, New York. “[We can’t give] specific or exact streets, but it can be said that the affected area (s) are 50s to 70s, both east and west side. We usually don’t give the number of affected customers because it is always on the move i.e. decreasing as we splice the fiber cables, which we are doing now. Our teams are on site when the fiber is cut and are working to restore services by noon.

Just before 2 p.m., Bonomo wrote to say the issue had been resolved.
