Troopers Investigate Fatal Single-Vehicle Crash – Delaware State Police

Date posted: Sunday, February 13, 2022

Seaford, DE- Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal single-vehicle crash that occurred early Sunday morning.

On February 13, 2022, at approximately 7:15 a.m., a 2001 Toyota Tundra pickup truck driven by an 18-year-old man from Delmar, DE, was heading south on Seaford Road, just south of Easter Lane. For unknown reasons, the driver failed to negotiate a slight right curve in the carriageway and left the eastern edge of Seaford Road before continuing south and hitting a wooden fence. The Tundra then swept over a large tree and was sent into the air and began to roll over before hitting the rear left side of an unoccupied and legally parked 2021 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck in the driveway of a residence in the block 27000 from Seaford Rd. The Tundra continued to roll over before colliding with another large tree and coming to rest on its roof.

The driver was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle during the rollover. He was taken to an area hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. Identification is pending notification to next of kin.

Seaford Road was closed for approximately 3.5 hours while the crash was investigated and cleared.
