INCLUSION & DIGITAL COMMUNICATION MANAGER – Ivory Coast

MSF WACA (West and Central Africa) was created in 2019 and aims to bring about a change in the dynamics of the MSF movement. WACA is driven by MSF doctors and humanitarians in West and Central Africa who want to be heard, contribute and above all proactively take responsibility for the organisation’s humanitarian mission. WACA reflects a humanitarian identity, an aspiration for MSF, a truly inclusive movement of people who share the values ​​of empathy for others. Position to be filled: as quickly as possible

Assignment:

The position of Inclusion and Digital Communication Manager is dedicated to the communication of:

  • The PWD Inclusion pole (people with disabilities) within the MSF movement.
  • The digital implementation of operational and institutional activities of MSF-WaCA.

Goals:

1) Position 50% dedicated to the communication of the Inclusion of people with disabilities (PSH) division.

Global key activities:

  • Develop, maintain and document a communications strategy to ensure the highest possible visibility of the project and its materials among key target groups. The incumbent must bring a new and creative dimension to the communication of the project;
  • Develop, maintain and document networking efforts with HQ communication, missions and other relevant stakeholders;
  • Ensure collection of key materials where possible;
  • Communication related to the visibility of the project and its media also includes, among other things, the promotion of the inclusion portal and its content (Videos, guideline, tools, eLearning course, experience sharing, interviews, articles, etc.);
  • This also includes regular publications of our newsletter (usually every 2-3 months);
  • In terms of general support to the project and its coordinator, this may include activities such as the organization of events and webinars, for example.

2) Position 50% dedicated to WACA’s digital communication efforts

Develop and implement social media and online communications:

  • Develop and implement social media strategy for MSF WaCA accounts;
  • Support the design of a broader communication strategy for MSF WaCA in coordination with field resources;
  • Manage the MSF WaCA Twitter account and coordinate the field network and editors;
  • Ensure quality control of the MSF WaCA sectors;
  • Adapt and personalize MSF communication materials for digital channels and audiences;
  • Develop a network of social media ambassadors, in collaboration with the Field Communications team;
  • Support the implementation of communication initiatives and campaigns to support operational messaging on social media and coordinate publications with the various stakeholders of the MSF network;

Main Responsibilities / Activities

1) Position 50% dedicated to the communication of the Inclusion of people with disabilities (PSH) division.

Activities specifically related to the inclusion portal and newsletters:

Development and maintenance of the portal on the inclusion of people with disabilities at MSF

– Continue to improve the design of the portal and its accessibility

– Ensure regular updates of the portal and inform about updates by writing and publishing the newsletter (newsletter every 2-3 months usually), using our mailing lists, Facebook, Yammer and other dissemination channels relevant

– The regular update process includes:

    • Content development, writing articles in particular; – Identification and documentation of initiatives and experiences of interest in the field and at headquarters and use of our portal/newsletters for sharing experiences; – Search for relevant medical materials and articles; – Identification and Interview of the actors concerned, collection of testimonies; – Media monitoring & Internal communication monitoring to relay information on the website; – Feed the debates & discussions;

– Keep statistics regarding the use of the portal and its content and ensure a monthly report

– Organize the translation of the main content of the portal and the newsletter.

– Development of technical communication guidelines and other relevant documents.

– Development of posters, guidelines and other relevant documents.

– Organize webinars or other relevant events.

Other general support activities for the project and its coordinator

– Other supports as needed

2) Position 50% dedicated to WACA’s digital communication efforts

2.2. Community Manager:

  • Manage and grow the channel and engagement with the African digital community;
  • Ensure the link between the hubs on the channels and the digital equipment;
  • Monitor relevant social media accounts and trends in the region on a daily basis to assess, promote and protect the reputation and principles of MSF WaCA online;
  • Map influential accounts in Africa primarily to identify influencer engagement opportunities;
  • Production of Multimedia content in support of the field according to needs.

2.3. Direct manufacturing:

  • Produce and edit video footage, photo albums, audio files and infographics for MSF WaCA social media channels.

2.4. Advice and support in the field:

  • As requested by the Field Communications team, train Field Communications resources in the field on social media content creation, social media management and community building;
  • At the request of the field communication team, provide technical support on communication strategies regarding photo/video/multimedia tools and their dissemination;
  • Ensure quality control of the MSF WaCA channel through curation and adaptation of MSF and field content.

2.5. Develop and strengthen the region’s internal communication:

  • Collect operational updates from MSF WaCA projects and share them with other regional posts or relevant stakeholders;
  • Identify the channels and platforms for disseminating operational updates;
  • Maintain the mailing list for MSF.

Other communication support tasks in the region:

  • Take charge of any communication project on request;
  • Maintain a list of cameramen and photographers and field service providers according to the area of ​​implementation of WaCA projects.
  • Act as focal point for social media monitoring in case of crisis in the region.

Training / Professional experience required:

  • Degree in journalism, communications, political science or related field;
  • At least three years of previous professional experience in communications, journalism or public relations;
  • Previous work experience in community management, implementation of digital communication strategies, in the production of multimedia content, especially in emergency/crisis situations;
  • Digital communication: knowledge of website design, updating websites/publishing content in an inclusive manner and communicating on social networks;
  • Experience in writing articles;
  • Experience working for MSF or other international NGOs.

Languages:

  • Fluency in English and French

(According to the coordination responsibilities of the position in French and English speaking countries, the person hired must be able to communicate easily in both languages.)
