How to skip the line and avoid the wait at the DMV

Visiting the DMV can be overwhelming. In Lee County, it’s now only date-only, but appointments are not available for weeks, leading to a lot of frustration.

Alvaro Delvalle experienced this problem firsthand. “You did not find any available time slot. I don’t think they had a date before January.

WINK News checked every Lee County DMV location for available appointments. Most services are booked until next month.

If you can’t get an appointment and need one, the Lee County Tax Collector’s Office suggests you go to the Auto Labeling Agency in Fort Myers.

“I just found out that this place doesn’t have a date, so you can go in and go in, so I figured I would take a day to do that.” It took over a day and then a little longer, ”said Tim Smith of Fort Myers Shores.

A one-line video at the auto-labeling agency on Wednesday shows that may not be a better solution.

People said the queue is moving slowly because so many people need services right now, not next year.

Delvalle is one of the many people who gave the tag agency a chance. “We waited 3-4 hours the first time and this time we got there really early.”

If you don’t have that kind of time to wait, you can renew your car registration yourself with Publix. There are three locations in Cape Coral, Fort Myers and Lehigh Acres with MV Express kiosks. You can find a list of these locations by clicking here.

You can also renew your registration and driver’s license directly from your computer as long as you already have a Real ID. Simply go to the Lee County Tax Collector’s website or use the hyperlinks above.

The Lee County Tax Collector’s Office said it was unusual for people to cancel their DMV appointments, but you can still check online every morning if this is happening.

You can also mail your renewal of registration to the tax collector’s office.
