DStv launches its own LTE fixed internet service »Stuff
While DStv is well known for its linear TV programming, it increasingly offers digital services to its customers, including streaming and access to Showmax for its Premium subscribers. Now he has come full circle by announcing that he now offers Internet packages to his customers.
This type of internet comes in the form of fixed LTE, which is basically a portable mobile router with a SIM card but attached to a location, such as a home or business. These plans tend to offer better data costs than mobile SIM cards, making them ideal for users who do not have a physical internet line in the form of ADSL or fiber.
DStv cares about the internet now?
Its wireless Internet service offers three data limits: 25 GB, 110 GB and 220 GB of data. In each case, customers will get the equivalent in data for nighttime use. For example, if you go for the 25 GB option, you will get a data allowance of 25 GB during the day and 25 GB at night.
“DStv customers have the advantage of choosing from bundles that include data options with their DStv subscription, making it easy to stream their favorite content to any Internet-connected device,” the company said.

All plans also come with a fixed LTE router included in the monthly fee. The broadcaster also markets a security offer called DStv Trusted Home. We cannot talk about the effectiveness of the app and will have to test it.
“The DStv Internet offering also includes a new exclusive premium service called DStv Trusted Home, an AI-based Wi-Fi management and network security solution jointly developed by MultiChoice’s digital platform security subsidiary, Irdeto, and Minim – the creator of smart grid products. »Explains the company.
Each package comes standard with a ZTE MF286R or ZTE MF286C router, depending on how much data you’ll be using – something that will really depend on how much streaming you’re planning to do.
According to the Internet page, “[s]Continuous video processing for 2 to 3 hours per day requires approximately 15 GB to 75 GB of data per month. This will obviously also depend on the quality in which you broadcast and how often you binge on content.
